Fenton David Hirschi II

He is here!! We are so excited. Tuesday morning I went into the hospital and was induced at 9:30 and baby Fenton came at 2:00 that afternoon. Everything went really smooth. We are both home and healthy. He was 7 lbs 7 oz and nearly 20 inches long. Eliza is a great sister and loves giving kisses, getting the blanket and pacifier.

All is well at home. David has taken a few days off and my parents are coming next week. We are so excited for them to come and visit and see the newest addition to our family.

Tropical Storm Fay

We were pretty excited when we got our permits to start on our foundation, and we started digging. There are a few pics of that process.

Though tropical Storm Fay hit Florida, we did feel some effect and outer bands of the storm. We have had some pretty heavy rains the past couple of days.

Well with the storm coming through it has rained on and off for the last 3 days and the last pics are the result of that. Yet again our project is on hold a bit longer... but we do now have a mote for our castle or a water feature...whatever you want to call it.

Eliza update

Eliza still the cutest thing ever. She is really starting to pick up words and trying to communicate. I am pretty sure that she is fluent in Albanian but she is just jabbering away as soon as she wakes up about whatever and in whatever language that we can't understand. She does try singing the "ABC's" and wheels on the bus. She says "I love you" really well.

She is starting to look and act like a little two year old.

We started putting her in nursery at the beginning of June but she didn't do very well with us gone. With in the last couple of weeks she is doing much better. She is still a little scared, and comes out maybe once during church to look for us, but she is doing better. We are working on her staying for the whole 2 hours now.

A couple of weeks ago our friend took us out on the boat and took us for a ride. i was worried about how Eliza was going to handle it. I took off her hat so it wouldn't blow off, and that was the only thing she cried about. I gave her her hat back and she loved the boat ride. She is a Carter after all. And David is super excited because that means that she loves the water and he is more likely to get a boat..... in about 10 years.

baby update

I am officially due on friday the 22 of august but I am feeling way too good to feel like I am going to have the baby in 2 days. I wish and hope that I would start having contractions, but alas. I saw the doctor yesterday and we are planning to induce on Tuesday the 26th, if I don't have it this weekend. So that is very exciting.

One of my friends threw me a shower. It was so great. The theme was sailboats. It was super cute with really great food. I want to thank all of my friends for their thoughtfull gifts and Katie for throwing such a cute party.

Update

I have been way too frustrated to write about the progress of the house for the last couple of weeks. We were needing to get permits before we could lay the foundation of the new house, but the huge tree has caused us some big issues. We thought all would be taken care of when the arborist said there shouldn't be a problem with building where we wanted to. The city thought there was a big problem and we contended with them and their approval for the last 2 1/2 weeks which is super frustrating. It comes down to the fact that we had to move our addition back 8 feet and redesign the whole thing, and draw up new plans, which took time and money, but today we got the permits and we are digging the foundation. The house is moving forward but I am still a little bitter about the whole thing.

We are still trying to get in by the end of September but that is optimistic so we will see what happens.

David and I are learning a lot. We are learning patience, and that nothing goes smoothly, plan for bumps and be prepared for them.
