I have been counting down to when David comes home. I had the whole day planned out, I just didn't plan for it to feel like the longest day of my life. I was planning on picking him up at the SLC airport and then coming straight home.
I bought a new outfit and dyed my hair. I wanted it to be perfect when I saw him again.
I finally left in the afternoon to go to Salt Lake City and got there early enough to have dinner with my parents. I got the airport a little early and waited for him. It was so great to see him. I just held him for what felt like an hour. He had lost so much weight. He looked amazing. I was so proud of him. I felt like he really accomplished what that semester was all about. He kept telling me that he had so much more confidence about his studies and becoming a doctor. It was awesome to hear him talk like that. Later that week we found out that he did really well in the pathology class.
Driving home with him was pleasant to catch up on everything and anticipate the kids reaction in the morning when they saw their papa.
The next morning the kids got up and went to the computer, because we would skype papa every morning, but this time David walked out of the kitchen and it was amazing. Fenton just looked at him and kept saying "papa papa" and hugged him. He finally could touch him and wrestle with his Papa. Eliza hugged and hugged him and then they all wrestled for about 30 minutes. It was the best Wednesday of David's life.
Eliza later commented that we were a family again. It was amazing to see that Eliza understood that we needed a dad in our life to feel complete.
We missed him so much and we are glad that he is back.
He is here for 7 weeks and then we (all of us) are going back to Grenada for the last 4 months of David's semester. It was a tough decision but we didn't want to be apart any more, so the adventure continues down in Grenada.
