Eliza meets her teacher

Yesterday Eliza met her new Kindergarten teacher.  She starts school on Tuesday and she is so anxious and excited.  I was excited for her and watched her check out her new classroom.  It looked very fun with toys and blocks and tons of learning things.  I was holding back a few tears as I saw her grow up.  I knew that this was just the beginning of a life time of learning.  This new stage of school won't stop for a long time.  I guess I was just emotional that it is finally starting for her.

At night Eliza and I talk and she was talking about Egypt.  She asked me if I knew where it was.  I said yes,  She asked me if we have been there and I said no.  She said "because it is very far away.  Is that where all the bad people are... yeah... I have heard of it."  I am not sure where she is getting her information but I loved it.

Race for kids

A local community had a fun little scavenger hunt called "Race for kids" and they had a section of the road blocked off and gave the kids a list of businesses to visit and they would stamp their pages and then give them a little prize like a pencil or bouncy ball.  We also got new little toy race cars, a bike helmet for Carter and a new hat.  It was very cool.
They had a whole bunch of super cool cars and race cars.  There was an Indy car that was giving rides and that was fun to watch.  We had a great day.

Fenton is 4

Fenton turned 4.  He wanted a pirate party and has been talking about his party for about 2 months.  I made a cute little pirate ship cake.  We had a few people over for a party and even my sister from Louisville came up with her 2 daughters and it made Fentons birthday very special.  We are so glad they came up to celebrate his birthday.  We played pin the eye patch on the pirate, had a scavenger hunt.  They had to walk the plank, walk through the alligator pond and then dig for gold.  The kids loved it.
In the morning just our family we rode our bikes to the park and played baseball (Fenton's new favorite thing to do) then played at the park.  We had our party, then went straight to the pool, then out for dinner and then to Chuck E Cheese.  Fenton was in heaven.  He was a great kid and loved his party.
I love him so much.  He has a mischievous little smile and twinkle in his eyes.  He tells me he loves me all of the time... just for fun.  He is very coordinated and I love watching him figure things out.  He is independent but still wants the one on one attention.  He keeps me on my toes and makes me a better mom.  I love him to the moon and back.

Down town Detroit

We went down town Detroit to check out the city.  This picture is of an iconic statue down town (the fist 24 ft long and it is to represent local boxer Joe Louis,  the other iconic part is the bum sleeping under it.  Downtown is interesting because there is a small area this is very nice, cute park, water fountain and huge nice buildings, but the surrounding areas are all dieing.  There are so many huge abandoned buildings and then the ghetto.  We live on the outside of the ghetto.  Our area is very nice and family oriented.  We have enjoyed Detroit and have already seen quite a bit.

Carter in goggles

Carter was being silly and he wanted to wear goggles just like his brother and sister.  He wore them the whole time at the pool.
