10 things about our Christmas

We just got back from a 3 weeks Christmas vacation and it actually felt like a Christmas vacation. You all know what I mean. No one was working, a lot of movies, skiing and travel, and of course tons and tons of treats. My parents are retired so they were able to spend so much time with us and we loved every minutes. Also David's sister was married so his parents took off the whole week to be with the family.... the whole family and it was great to be with all of the sisters, brothers, and grandchildren.
Now I could go through the whole vacation and tell you some great and crazy stories but instead I am giving the top 10.... although this is in no particular order.

1. love being in the west: this includes hair that is tamable and smooth, artic circle hamburger with extra sauce, papa kelsey subs, maple bars, and stevens hot cocoa. And of course being able to see more than 100 yards in front of you. The views and sunsets are always spectacular.

2. swimming pool and discovery zone with grandma Carter. Eliza was in heaven.

3. Mom sees a spider: This was Christmas morning and we were all opening presents and then all of a sudden my mom starts screaming "ahhhh, ahhhhh, get it, hurry ahhhh!" while she is on the phone with my brother Clint. We had no idea what was going on. We didn't know if she was yelling at us or Clint and I bet Clint didn't know what was going on either, as he was pulling the screaming phone away from his ear. After she could speak, she told us she saw a spider under the tree. She claims that it was huge but all that were present can testify that is was definitely a baby spider.

4. Eliza opens the lucky charms box: Eliza really started to get into the opening present thing. She saw the lucky Charms box on the sofa and torn it right open and what did she find, a bag of lucky charms.

5. Skiing: Blake, David, Jason, Lorisa and I all went skiing. It snowed all day but was some awesome powder. My legs burned so bad after the first run but I started to get my skiing legs back after lunch.

6. Janae and Josh's wedding. It was so great to see the sealing of Janae at the Twin Falls temple. We helped set up Friday night and the sealing was Saturday. It snowed all day but it was beautiful and so was Janae. David went through a session the next week. What a beautiful temple!!!

7. We were able to see the play "The Christmas Carol" and it was so wonderful.

8. We had a white Christmas. We went sledding in Bountiful and David took Eliza down the biggest hill with a little drop off unknowingly. We quickly switched to a smaller hill and she loved it.

9. All of the traveling. I took both kids by myself a few days early and it went as smoothly as it can go with 3 different plane rides, some 3 1/2 hours, and a 2 year old that didn't get her nap and a 4 month old. David tried to fly standby but he only got as far as Charlotte, only 3 hours away. He spent the night in the airport and the flights didn't look good at all, for a couple of days. Well I wanted him in Utah with me so Blake and I started to shop around and we found a flight from Atlanta to SLC for that night that was affordable so he hopped on a flight to Atlanta and got to SLC on Saturday night. He was lucky because the plane he was in offered ESPN so he was able to watch the big game.
We tried to leave on Christmas day but all of the roads leading into Idaho we closed,,, seriously closed and we were missing Janae's endowment. We were bummed. So we waited until the next day and it had snowed another 4 inches. We tried anyway to make it to Twin. The I-15 was horrible but we went about 30 MPH and made it to the Idaho border going to Pocatello, because it was the only road open. As we drove on the roads were great. We hit 75MPH until after Pocatello and then the roads when bad again. Near Burley we got a flat tire so David and I hopped out the changed the tire and drove on. That trip took nearly 7 hours.
I drove up to Boise for about a 8 hour visit with my sister and then we headed back to Bountiful on Saturday. David tried to leave on Sunday morning but again the flights seemed impossible. he stayed one more night with us and then tried again Monday morning and he made it all the way home that day. it was some crazy traveling.

10. Lots of grandkids. All of the Hirschi children were able to make it into town for the wedding and all of the grandchildren. that is 16. 8 of them are 2 and under. It was chaos but so fun.

We had such a great vacation. We love being with our families. we miss them so much. Thanks for such a great Holiday!!!
